🕐 Poll times in Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba
Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba no longer change their clocks after November 1, 2026. Alberta stays on UTC−6, British Columbia on UTC−7 and Manitoba on UTC−5 all year round.
Rallly converts times on the server and in each viewer's browser, and each reads its own copy of the time zone database. Until both have the new rules, times after November 1 could appear an hour off. Saving a correction could then shift them again.
Rallly now resolves these zones itself from November 1, so every device and server shows the same, correct time, whether or not its time zone data has been updated. The Northwest Territories (America/Yellowknife, America/Inuvik) and the legacy Canada/* zone names are covered too.
Manitoba polls are corrected automatically. No time zone database had Manitoba's change yet, so times after November 1 in existing Manitoba polls were stored an hour late while still displaying correctly. A migration corrects them on upgrade, so they keep showing the time the organizer chose.
Alberta and British Columbia polls are not changed. Some organizers may have adjusted poll times to work around the issue before this release, and those adjusted times will now show an hour off. We recommend asking organizers with polls after November 1 in these zones to check their times.
🔐 OIDC sign-ins link to existing accounts
Signing in with OIDC now links to an existing Rallly account with the same email address, even when the provider does not send an email_verified claim (#3407). Previously, users who had first signed in with an email code, or whose OIDC subject had changed, were refused.
[!IMPORTANT]
Only use OIDC with a provider where users cannot change their own email address. Otherwise, a user could sign in to someone else's Rallly account by claiming their email.
[!NOTE]
This release includes a database migration, which runs automatically on startup. There are no configuration changes.
