garage, minecraft-router, minecraft-server, samba, teamspeak-server,
satisfactory. One major each. These are the charts the plan said to leave for
last, and they earned it - three of them changed the convention rather than
just consuming it.
GARAGE is the clearest illustration after keycloak. Its four ports split three
ways: s3 and web are RESTRICTED by source (no probe touches them), admin is the
probe path and stays open inside the cluster - which is uncomfortable, because
admin is also the admin API, and that is said out loud instead of glossed - and
rpc gets the narrowest rule the object can express, a podSelector with no
namespaceSelector. All four numbers come from garage.settings.
MINECRAFT-SERVER is the tightest policy in the repository, and the reason is
worth knowing: all three of its probes are EXEC probes, which put no packet on
the network, so no port has to stay open for the kubelet and no probeSources
value is needed at all. RCON and metrics are restricted outright. The game port
has two branches rendered from the same value the Service reads -
server.service.type NodePort means players arrive from the internet and the
rule must be open; anything else means the only path is in-cluster, so the rule
is restricted and the router's namespace has to be in allowedNamespaces.
MINECRAFT-ROUTER derives its egress from the routing table instead of guessing:
server.backendPort plus the "port" override of every mapping that sets one. Add
a backend on a non-standard port and the policy follows. What it cannot express
is the destination - mappings name hosts, and this object matches no hostname -
so the rule is wider than the routing table, and that is written down.
SATISFACTORY gets policyTypes: [Ingress] and no egress section, and the second
half of the reason is the deciding one. Steam's content delivery is not a
pinnable port set (SteamCMD over TCP 80/443/27015-27050, master servers over
UDP 27000-27100 and 4380, changed by Valve, re-downloaded on every update) -
and this is the ONE chart with no install-test at all, because the image is
multiple GB and the first start pulls over 10GB. An egress cap here would be
the only one in the sweep with no empirical check behind it, on the chart whose
correct port set is least knowable.
SAMBA and TEAMSPEAK-SERVER carry the NodePort lesson explicitly: the rules name
445/139 and the pod's voice and file-transfer ports, never the NodePorts, and
teamspeak's file is explicit that its pod port and NodePort happening to share a
number is a coincidence of its values rather than a pattern to copy. Teamspeak's
voice rule is UDP, and the file says why that matters: a TCP rule on the same
number is accepted, looks complete, and drops every voice packet.
THREE THINGS THE CHECKS CAUGHT WHILE THIS BATCH WAS WRITTEN, all of them real:
- minecraft-server's RCON rule named a port the pod does not declare. The
containerPort is gated on server.rcon.enabled and the rule was not, so
assertion 2 rejected it. The rule now carries the same gate.
- samba and satisfactory would have shipped allowedNamespaces and
probeSources values that reach NO rule - every one of their inbound rules
is open to any source. A value that silently does nothing is worse than one
that is absent, because it reads as a control, so both are gone from those
two charts and from their schemas, with the reason in values.yaml.
teamspeak-server loses probeSources for the same reason and keeps
allowedNamespaces, which its web-query rule uses.
- the policy templates no longer declare template variables they do not use.
samba keeps one, satisfactory none.

The doc comments on the resources and defaultedDict helpers justified the copy-per-chart with "charts in this repo deliberately have no dependencies". That rule fell with #214: a dependency is admissible now, just expensive, and it sits in the README as guideline 14, not 13. The justification still holds, but its reason is a different one - sharing the helper would mean a library chart, a second artefact to publish, version and pull for something that changes about once a year. searxng got that wording in PR #38; this carries it to 21 further charts, 40 occurrences in all. rss-bridge is deliberately left out. Its install-test fails on the Gitea runner for a reason that predates this branch, and touching the chart would keep it in the install-test matrix and the check red. Its copy of the sentence is carried by #51, which has to open the chart anyway. Comments only: every touched chart renders byte-identical against its ci/<chart>/test-values.yaml. Each published chart takes a patch bump, appVersion and +up suffix untouched; template-chart is never published and takes none, but is corrected because every new chart inherits from it. Two repo files carried the same claim at no version cost: validate-charts.yml explained the all-charts quantity render test with it, and change-app-version.yml still counted nine images for freesailarr - MediathekArr made it ten. |

teamspeak-server: NOTES.txt and the exponential-quantity fix (5.1.0+up6.0.0.beta12.1)
Teil von #157 und Teil von #43. #157: multiplyQuantity turned its input into a string with printf "%v". The null-safe fallback helpers from #99 route values through fromYaml, which parses every number as float64, and Go switches float64 to exponential notation from about 1e6 upwards. A request of 1048576 therefore reached the suffix check as "1.048576e+06" and aborted the render. The second printf "%v", the one that prints a non-integer product, never reaches that check at all: with a fractional limitFactor it wrote an invalid quantity into the manifest without a word. Both sites now go through the canonical teamspeak-server.formatNumber helper, identical to the other charts. Note for this chart: values.schema.json types resources.limitFactor as "number", not "integer", so the silent path is reachable with ordinary values rather than only with --set-json. #43: adds templates/NOTES.txt. teamspeak-server is a NodePort service with no Ingress and no secrets at all, so the notes cover what is actually worth looking up. Measured against the pinned image 6.0.0-beta12.1 rather than taken from upstream docs: the first start prints a ServerAdmin privilege key and ServerQuery credentials exactly once, and only the privilege key is recoverable afterwards from the log files on the data volume; TSSERVER_ DEFAULT_PORT is read only when the virtual server is created, so changing server.voicePort on an existing release moves the Service, the nodePort and the containerPort while the server keeps answering on the old port, with all three probes staying green because they only ever TCP-connect to the file transfer port; TSSERVER_FILE_TRANSFER_PORT, by contrast, applies on every start; the bundled license runs 2026-07-01 to 2026-10-01 with one virtual server and 32 slots; and no query port listens at all, which leaves the declared web-query container port 10080 bound by nothing. Minor bump: additive, appVersion unchanged. |

teamspeak-server: strict values.schema.json and null-safe hardening
No ingress gate: this chart has no Ingress at all (voice/file-transfer are exposed via NodePort), and ingress.domain appears neither in its templates nor in its values. 1. values.schema.json (#68): additionalProperties: false on every chart-owned object level. Note that this chart keeps replicas, resources, probes and securityContext at the TOP level rather than under a chart-named key, so the schema mirrors that shape. 2. Null-safety for hardening, probes and resources (#99). The rebuilt probes keep the "file-transfer" port name: the voice service is UDP and cannot be probed, so that TCP port is the only thing a probe can target - a default probe without it would leave the workload with no working probe at all. The container defaults keep capabilities.add as an empty list, exactly as values.yaml has it, so an erased block restores today's rendering byte for byte rather than a cleaned-up variant. storage stays deliberately not null-safe: an erased block yields an invalid PVC, which is the loud class #99 excludes. Rendering with normal values is byte-identical to 4.0.0. |

TeamSpeak chart: naming scheme, hardening, configurable node ports
Batch-3 major PR for teamspeak-server (issue #32): - Rename service and StatefulSet to the repo naming scheme ({{ .Release.Name }}-{{ .Chart.Name }}-service / -sfs); the PVC keeps its historical name (documented naming exception, data preservation). - NodePorts configurable via server.voicePort / server.fileTransferPort (defaults 30987/30033, satisfactory pattern); ports are also passed to the server via TSSERVER_DEFAULT_PORT / TSSERVER_FILE_TRANSFER_PORT. - Hardened, values-configurable security contexts (securityContext.pod/container): non-root uid/gid 9987, readOnlyRootFilesystem, all capabilities dropped. - Probes values-configurable (defaults unchanged). - Additive env value rendered through tpl (value/secretKeyRef/ configMapKeyRef forms). - Chart 3.1.2 -> 4.0.0 (+up6.0.0.beta12.1). |

Conventions batch 1: icons, template file names, cosmetics
- Add icon: to all 17 Chart.yaml (official project icons); removes the
last helm lint --strict INFO finding across the repo
- Rename template files to the <app>.<kind>.yaml scheme (apache-tika,
gotenberg, teamspeak-server PVC, paperless-ngx configmap) - pure
git mv, no content changes
- template-chart: fix missing space in {{ .Chart.Name}} and rename the
ConfigMap resource -config-map -> -configmap (chart is never published)
- rallly: fix typos in required messages (rallySecret -> ralllySecret,
databseSecret -> databaseSecret)
- README: document the deliberate PVC-name exception from the naming
scheme (renames would provision new empty volumes)
- Patch-bump all 16 published charts
Rendered resources are byte-identical for all published charts (only
helm's '# Source:' comments change for the renamed files); the only
render change is the template-chart ConfigMap name.

Update app versions (batch): tika, gotenberg, synapse, rallly, samba, urlaubsverwaltung, voucher-vault, zipline, teamspeak
Nine non-critical app-version bumps, each with a chart patch bump: - apache-tika 3.2.3.0-full -> 3.3.1.0-full - gotenberg 8.26.0 -> 8.36.0 - matrix-synapse v1.149.1 -> v1.159.0 - rallly 4.8.1 -> 4.12.3 - samba 4.23.5 -> 4.23.10 - urlaubsverwaltung 6.5.0 -> 6.7.0 - voucher-vault 1.27.4 -> 1.30.1 - zipline 4.6.4 -> 4.7.0 - teamspeak-server v6.0.0-beta8 -> 6.0.0-beta12.1 (new tag format has no v prefix) Release notes of every chart were checked for environment-variable changes; none of the charts needs an env adjustment. The teamspeak-server install-test is reactivated: beta12.1 ships a valid default license, so the exclusion is removed, CI fixtures are added under ci/teamspeak-server/, and the install-test was verified in a local k3d cluster. README list of excluded charts updated. |

Add per-workload replicas values and a chart-global scaleDown flag
Every Deployment/StatefulSet now takes its replica count from a replicas value (default 1, explicit 0 allowed) via a new per-chart <chart>.replicas helper; the helper uses a kindIs "invalid" nil check so an explicit 0 is not swallowed by Helm's default function. A chart-global scaleDown flag (default false) takes precedence: it renders every workload with replicas: 0 and suspends the paperless-ngx consume CronJob, stopping the app without uninstalling it (PVCs, Secrets, Services and Ingress remain). Defaults leave the rendered manifests byte-identical to main, so all published charts get a minor version bump; the template-chart carries the reference helper implementation and stays unversioned. Fixes #25 |

Compute memory/ephemeral-storage limits from requests, drop default CPU limits
Every chart now renders its container resources through a duplicated _helpers.tpl helper (reference implementation in template-chart): requests ship as chart defaults, missing memory and ephemeral-storage limits are computed as resources.limitFactor x the request (default 3, satisfactory keeps 2 to preserve its previously published 8Gi limit), an explicitly set limit always wins, and a CPU limit is only rendered when set explicitly. Fixed limit defaults are removed from all values.yaml files; teamspeak-server gains a values-driven resources block instead of hardcoded template values. Major version bump for all published charts. |

Ensure liveness, readiness and startup probes on all workloads
Every container in every Deployment/StatefulSet now defines all three probes. The paperless-ngx consume CronJob intentionally has none (batch workload). - Add probes: apache-tika, calibre-web-automated, cyberchef, gotenberg, homeassistant, patchmon-backend, samba (tcp/445), teamspeak-server (tcp/30033), zipline (/api/healthcheck) - Fix voucher-vault null probe values with real defaults - Fix startup-probe semantics in template-chart and rallly (no initialDelaySeconds, generous failureThreshold) - Switch outline probes to its /_health endpoint - Add readiness/startup probes to satisfactory - Add startup probes to matrix-synapse, matrix-delegation-nginx, paperless-server, patchmon-frontend, urlaubsverwaltung - Major version bump for all published charts |
